Let's start by getting you all up to date. In 2003 I moved back to Northern California, in 2004 I moved to Napa and within my first week here I met James. After a brief (and I mean brief) period of dating we were engaged. 14 months later on June 5, 2005 we were married. On July 9, 2006 we welcomed our first child, Madison Rae (Madi).
James is a 6th grade teacher at a low income neighborhood charter school. Most of his student population is hispanic, which he enjoys as he has ample practice of Spanish available. He has become mostly bilingual although he won't admit it, but I say if you can hold parent-teacher conferences in Spanish you're bilingual! He also works a few nights a week at a local resort as a manager.
I have been an paid Catholic Youth Minister for 2 1/2 years now. (It beats the volunteer status I had for the 3 years previous!) I work with Junior High and High School Youth at St. Apollinaris Parish here in Napa. I love that fact that I have a wonderfully flexible schedule and can bring Madi with me when and if needed and have transfered to such a wonderful and supportive parish! My "kids" and my family are what makes my world go round!
Madi is a very active, imaginative and, dare we say, smart little girl! Her favorite activities include reading, her weekly dance class, reading, singing, reading, and dressing up like the Disney princesses. Did I mention, reading? She's quite the bookworm! No, she doesn't read on her own yet...but she's had each book in her extensive library read to her so many times she knows most of them by heart, so she tells them to herself. She has more books than toys and her collection seems to grow more and more by the day!
That's us, in a nutshell!
Stay tuned for more....
